J-K: Drug peddler held in possession of contraband in Shopian
Srinagar, Sep 16 (PTI) A suspected drug peddler was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday and contraband substance was recovered from his possession, police said.
During routine checking at Sofanaman, a police party noticed a person making suspicious movement and tactfully apprehended him, a police spokesperson said.
During a search, 122 grams charas-like substance were recovered from his possession, he said.
The accused has been identified as Sabit Sharief, a resident of Karwoora Imamsahib.
A case under the relevant sections of law has been registered at Shopian police station and investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and establish the forward and backward linkages, the spokesperson added.
