Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim arrives in Keralam to meet Islamic scholar Kanthapuram

KOZHIKODE: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday arrived in Kerala to meet prominent Sunni scholar and Indian Grand Mufti Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar, ahead of Malaysia’s general election scheduled for 2027.
Ibrahim was received at Karipur airport in Malappuram district by state Agriculture Minister T Siddique on behalf of the state government, according to a statement issued by the district administration.
Anwar Ibrahim held discussions with Kanthapuram and attended a special prayer congregation. Leaders from various walks of life including Karnataka Health Minister U T Khader, Keralam Minister for Industries P K Kunhalikutty, Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathul Ulama president U Sulaiman Musaliyar, Syed Ali Bafaqi Thangal, Syed Ebrahimul Khaleel al-Bukhari Thangal, Perode Abdurrahman Saqafi, IUML state president Syed Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal attended the gathering.
It is the second time Anwar Ibrahim is paying visit to the Markaz. He visited Kanthapuram in 2022 weeks before he becoming the prime minister.
