‘Better Clean Up Your Act’: US Lawmaker Warns India After Congress Passes Russia Sanctions Bill

The legislation targets Russia's energy and defence sectors and seeks to penalise countries and entities that help Moscow evade sanctions or continue purchasing Russian energy.
US Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal on Wednesday (local time) warned India and China to stop buying Russian oil and gas after the US House of Representatives passed a sanctions bill that gives President Donald Trump the authority to impose tariffs of up to 100 per cent on major purchasers of Russian energy.
While speaking to reporters after the House vote, Blumenthal said, “To China and India: You better clean up your act. Buy your oil and gas somewhere else. Appeasement is not a strategy."
