2011 ODI World Cup’s player-of-the-tournament Yuvraj Singh has an advice for the current Indian team management to identify a core group of players and stick with them for the next year or so in the lead up to the next one-day showpiece event. Yuvraj feels that consistency and continuity in team selection plays a key role in ensuring a strong tournament and ensures that players who will be part of the World Cup campaign have been given enough game time.
Yuvraj‘s remark come amidst uncertainty over the future of former captain Rohit Sharma who was widely reported to have been told by the selectors during the England tour earlier this year that they are moving on. It was said that the selection panel wants to give a younger player like Yashasvi Jaiswal more opportunities to settle in as they start building for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
