Comedian Kapil Sharma's comedy series, The Great Indian Kapil Show, is set to return for a festive-themed fifth season. New episodes will bring back its signature blend of celebrity interviews, ensemble sketches, and interactive host banter.
Comedian Kapil Sharma's popular streaming talk show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, is set to return for its fifth season. The upcoming season will premiere on September 26 with a special festive-themed edition, marking the series' return following a six-month hiatus.
The new season of the Netflix show is scheduled around the festive period, incorporating celebrity interviews, sketch comedy, and audience interactions. According to the team, the series will retain its core format of host-led conversations and group sketches featuring guests from cinema, sports, and public life.
Reflecting on the return, host Kapil Sharma highlighted that the team wanted to build on the global audience response from previous seasons with new festive-themed episodes.
He said, "Every season, we think we have done enough masti (fun), and then we realise that we are not done yet! And somewhere I feel that’s what keeps us going. We are extremely grateful for the love our audience, world over, has given The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix and this time around we will be celebrating the upcoming festivities wholeheartedly be it Diwali or Christmas (sic)."
"Bas lifafe Archana ji se duur rakhiye, baki hum Hasi ka Tyohaar to le kar aa hi rahe hain! (Just keep the gifts and envelopes away from Archana ji, we are coming soon with the festival of laughter) (sic)," Sharma added.
Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, added that the fifth instalment forms a key part of the platform's unscripted comedy slate, designed to target family audiences across demographic groups during the festive season.
Highlighting the show's strategic role, Bami said that the series has built a distinct space within Netflix India's comedy portfolio as a multi-generational family entertainer. She added that the six-month gap has built viewer anticipation, with the platform timing the fifth season's return for the festive period to reach a broader, family-centric demographic with an expanded guest line-up.
New episodes of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 will stream every Saturday at 8 pm on Netflix.
Alongside host Kapil Sharma, the upcoming season will feature regular cast members Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur, Archana Puran Singh, and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
