Days after couple found dead near River Ganga, two more bodies found in UP

A woman and a man were found dead in the Ganga in Bijnor's Daranagar Ganj area on Thursday. Police are awaiting post-mortem findings while trying to identify the deceased and trace how the bodies reached the river.

Two days after the bodies of a woman and her husband were found in separate circumstances in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, another woman and a man were found dead in the Ganga on Thursday.

In the latest incident, the bodies were found lying in the Ganga near the Daranagar Ganj area. Police reached the spot after receiving information and, with the help of local residents, recovered both bodies from the river.

Preliminary information suggests that the bodies were several days old. Police have not yet identified either of the victims.

The police took both bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem examinations. Officials said the post-mortem reports and the identification process will help establish the cause of death and clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

At around 9 am on Thursday, a person noticed the two bodies in the Ganga and informed people nearby. The information was subsequently passed on to the police.

The discovery drew a crowd to the spot. Police officials Abhay Pandey and Avneet Maan reached the location with a police team. After inspecting the scene, police recovered the bodies from the river with the help of local residents.

According to Abhay Pandey, the bodies of a woman and a man were recovered from the Ganga. Police estimate that both were between 30 and 55 years old. The bodies appeared to be several days old.

Police searched nearby areas and made efforts to establish the identities of the victims. Officials are also collecting information from surrounding police stations and other relevant authorities.

Police are investigating whether the two bodies came from another area and were carried to the location by the river.

The latest recovery comes two days after the bodies of a married couple were found in Bijnor under separate circumstances. The woman’s body was found lying in the Ganga, while her husband’s body was found hanging from a tree.

The man’s body was reportedly found with the woman’s salwar on him, adding to the mystery surrounding the incident.

Following the incident, DIG Muniraj inspected the spot. The ADG Bareilly also visited the location and took stock of the scene.

The recovery of another woman’s and man’s bodies from the Ganga has now intensified discussions in Bijnor.

However, police have not confirmed any connection between Thursday’s recovery and the deaths of the couple found two days earlier.

Police said that at this stage, linking the two incidents would be premature. Police are first focusing on identifying the woman and man whose bodies were recovered from the Ganga on Thursday.
