Amazon employees in the US will see wage increases, starting at $20/hour for core roles, with average pay nearing $24/hour and total compensation over $32/hour.

Amazon employees in the US will receive higher starting wages and everyday savings. The changes combine better pay with grocery discounts and access to banking services.
Minimum starting pay for full-time core operations roles will rise to “$20/hour”. Many such jobs require no previous experience. Average pay will reach “nearly $24/hour”, according to the company release. Including benefits, average total compensation exceeds $32 an hour.
Grocery discounts include 10% off eligible fresh groceries and daily essentials through selected online channels. These cover Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market Online, without a cap on the discount. Employees also get 20% off purchases inside Whole Foods Market stores.

Existing benefits include free Prime membership for eligible workers and prepaid education programmes. Healthcare starts at $5 per week, with $5 copaysavailable.
Amazon’s employee benefits aim to ease grocery bills and improve access to banking. Higher wages form another part of the package for eligible workers. Udit Madan, Senior Vice President, Amazon Worldwide Operations, outlined these changes.
From 1 October 2026, every Amazon employee in the US will be eligible for grocery discounts. Eligible groceries and daily essentials get 10% off on Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market online. Purchases inside Whole Foods Market receive 20% off, including hot bars and salad bars.
Both discounts are uncapped and can be combined with Prime member discounts. Purchases must be made through the employee’s Amazon account.
As the average total compensation exceeds $32 an hour, this figure includes the value of benefits, rather than wages alone. An annual pay progression plan also raises wages during employees’ first three years.
The new Day 1 Financial benefit provides membership in First Tech Federal Credit Union. Qualified employees, spouses and children can keep access for life, even after leaving Amazon. The rollout starts in late 2026, with wider availability expected during 2027.
