Punjab Police arrests foils cross-border smuggling, arrests 4, recovers 27 kg heroin
Chandigarh, Sep 16 (PTI) Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence wing has foiled a cross-border smuggling module and apprehended four accused, recovering 27 kilogrammes of heroin, officials said.
One foreign-made .30 bore pistol and three cartridges have also been recovered, police said.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused are operating in coordination with a #Dubai-based operative and cross-border smugglers, and supplying them further on his instructions,” Punjab police DGP, Gaurav Yadav, said in a post on X on Wednesday.
He said an FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete backward and forward linkages and identify all persons involved in the smuggling network, DGP said.
DGP Yadav added that Punjab police remains committed to maintaining strict vigil against cross-border smuggling and taking decisive action against drug trafficking, illegal arms supply and organised criminal networks. PTI SUN KSI KSI
