PM Modi only focuses on work to take country forward, ignores Oppn allegations: Eknath Shinde
Vadnagar (Gujarat), Sep 17 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi focuses only on his work to take the country forward and “does not even look” at those in the Opposition who keep levelling allegations, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Thursday.
Shinde, who took part in a grand ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ event in Vadnagar in Mehsana to mark the PM’s 76th birthday, was answering media queries on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray’s frequent attacks on Modi, the BJP and the Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra.
“They level countless allegations against Modiji, but he doesn’t even look at them. PM Modi focuses only on his work to take the country forward and never pays attention to allegations,” Shinde said citing the phrase about elephants marching ahead but omitting the part on ‘barking dogs’.
The Opposition’s job is to raise questions and level allegations, while the government’s job is to deliver development and bring change to people’s lives, he added.
“The Opposition keeps levelling allegations against us too, but we continue to do our work. We answer their allegations with our work, that’s it,” asserted Shinde, whose Shiv Sena is part of the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra.
Shinde also said the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project would immensely help both states, adding that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government under Uddhav Thackeray had stalled work on it.
“When I became Maharashtra chief minister in 2022, I removed that speed breaker. I lifted the stay. Then the bullet train work started progressing rapidly like a bullet. The project will be immensely beneficial not just for Gujarat and Mumbai, but for the rest of Maharashtra as well,” he said.
The Maharashtra Deputy CM said he was very glad Modi had completed 25 successful years in executive roles, combining his tenure as chief minister and prime minister.
Born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar in Gujarat’s Mehsana district, Modi turned 76 on Thursday. He completes 25 uninterrupted years in public office on October 7, having first taken the oath as Gujarat chief minister in 2001 before becoming prime minister in 2014.
