Heart still not ready to accept Sudivya Kumar’s death: Hemant Soren

Giridih, Sep 17 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday said he was still unable to accept the death of his former cabinet colleague Sudivya Kumar, describing it as a major loss for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Soren, along with cabinet ministers and political leaders from across party lines, attended Kumar’s 12th-day ritual at his residence in Giridih district.

“It is a very big loss for the JMM and the void created by him is difficult to make up for. The heart is still not ready to accept that he is no longer among us. Yet we cannot escape the will of fate,” Soren told reporters.

Kumar died of cardiac arrest on September 6 at the age of 56.

The two-term MLA from Giridih had held several key portfolios, including Higher and Technical Education, Urban Development and Housing, Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Sports and Youth Affairs.

“All I can say is that shouldering such responsibilities towards society and the state requires immense courage and passion. I believe the late Sonu-ji possessed all these qualities and he played a pivotal role in providing direction across various sectors of the state,” Soren said.

Kumar had consistently championed the cause of the party and people from all sections of society, raising their concerns and upholding their identity, he said.

“In this hour of grief, we stand with his entire family and will continue to do so in the future,” he added.

Rural Development Minister Dipika Pandey Singh, Health Minister Irfan Ansari and Water Resources Minister Hafizul Hassan were also present on the occasion. PTI SAN SAN SOM
