Pakistan To Seal Islamabad Red Zone Ahead Of PTI Protest, Containers Arrive At D-Chowk

Authorities have begun preparations to restrict access to sensitive areas and prevent demonstrators from entering the Red Zone
Islamabad is stepping up security preparations ahead of a series of opposition protests scheduled in the Pakistan federal capital later this month, with large numbers of shipping containers being positioned at key locations including D-Chowk and Embassy Road.
The latest deployment comes ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned September 27 protest and follows separate protest calls by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Kisan Ittehad. Authorities have begun preparations to restrict access to sensitive areas and prevent demonstrators from entering the Red Zone, which houses Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office and other key government institutions.
