MCD carries out 39 demolition actions across Delhi under drive against violations
New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) The MCD on Thursday carried out 39 demolition actions across all its 12 zones as part of its ongoing drive against unauthorised constructions, dangerous buildings and violations of building norms.
The civic body also sealed six properties and issued five demolition orders during the enforcement exercise, an official statement said.
The action came a day after the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) carried out 46 demolition actions and sealed 11 properties across the city.
The latest drive covered several locations, including Shakarpur, Geeta Colony, Pandav Nagar, Ashok Vihar Phase-II, Keshavpuram, Ramesh Nagar, Baljeet Nagar, Manakpura, Paharganj, Shaheen Bagh, Sant Nagar and Tughlakabad Extension.
The MCD said the enforcement drive is being carried out against violations of the Master Plan of Delhi and building bye-laws, as well as action against structures considered dangerous.
The drive has been intensified following the September 6 collapse of a five-storey building housing a paying guest accommodation in Satya Niketan, which claimed seven lives.
The civic body has directed its field officials to maintain vigilance and take action against violations under applicable provisions of the Master Plan of Delhi, building bye-laws and other regulations.
The enforcement exercise will continue across all 12 zones, the MCD said. PTI VBH SMV PRK
